This piece is my farewell to New York City.

It is a celebration of the architecture, the nature, and the quiet moments of reflection I found unexpectedly throughout my time in NYC. The print is a reduction print (2 blocks, 3 layers) with variable metal & wood type.

The type is inspired by “I’d Miss the Birds” by Joy Oladokun, a song about knowing when to leave. She sings “I wouldn’t miss the traffic or the runaway trains. The Proud Boys and their women just make me feel out of place. Oh, but I’d miss the birds and the music that they make. But even they know when to fly away. I think it’s time to fly away.”

I will always love New York City, the buildings, the birds, and the music I made there. But it’s time to fly away.
